The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team is proud and happy for all the participating runners in the 20th edition of the Sri Chinmoy 6-hour race in Nuremberg, Germany. The event included the 6-hour German Championship and each and every runner performed to his or her best. With mild temperatures up to 16 degrees centigrade the weather was perfect. The field was stacked with best German short distance ultra runners including many of the top 10 from 50 k and 100 k to 6-hours and 12-hours.

The race produced the new German Champions Dr. Nele Alders-Baerens, Team Ultrasportclup Marburg for the women and Adam Zahora, Team LG Bamberg for the men. Nele ran her first 6-hour race ever just a month after winning the 50 k German Championship. She finished with a fantastic 82.992 k. This is a new German Record and a new world best performance for the W35 age group. The womens race produced 2 additional German records. One went to 2007/8 and 2009 race winner Simone Stöppler (SCC Hanau-Rodenbach) with a distance of 72.118 k in W50 age group and one to Sigrid Eichner (LG Mauerwerk Berlin) in age group W75 with 43.030 k. Simone's distance is also the new world best performance for her age group.

In the mens race Adam Zahora smashed the 18 year old course record by 2.4 k taking the crown with 87.991 k, a new personal record. A friendly battle took place for second. Eventually early leader and 2012 and 13 race winner Matthias Dippacher (LSG Karlsruhe) took second with 84.651 k. Carsten Steger (SV Amberg) finished 300 meters short of second place and took third with 84.348 k.

The charm of this race is the combination of elite and mid pack runners. Being the oldest 6-hour race in Germany it included first time ultra runners and old-timers like Roland Blumensaat. He was a great inspiration to start this race 20 years ago and competed in every single one of them. Congratualtions to all the runners.

Additionally this race was the first of seven European 6-hour races that comprise the Sri Chinmoy 6-hour Hero-Cup and that the top 40 male and female runners earned points for.
